Perfect for your young history lover, FREE guided tours of the Capitol are provided free of charge by staff of the Tennessee State Museum. These tours leave from the Information Desk on the First Floor of the Capitol every hour, on the hour. The first tour begins at 9 a.m. and the final tour begins at 3 p.m.

Visitors are asked to enter the Capitol using the West entrance. Visitors are required to pass through metal detectors and show photo identification when entering the Capitol.

On Legislative (meeting) days, visitors may view the Senate and the House of Representatives from their respective galleries. The galleries can be accessed by using the stairwells located on the Second Floor of the Capitol.

Individuals visiting the Capitol are asked to use the metered spaces around the Capitol complex or any of the public parking lots in the downtown area.

Monday through Friday at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m., beginning at the Information Desk on the first floor. Groups of ten or more should make a reservation prior to their visit by calling the Public Programs Department at (615) 741-0830 or toll-free 800-407-4324.
