Introduction to Camping at Montgomery Bell State Park

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sun, 08/26/2018
Never been camping before? Been camping, but would like some extra practice? If you answered yes to either of these questions, then this trip is for you! This summer you can join Tennessee State Parks, Mountain High Outfitters and The North Face for an introductory camping course designed to increase your confidence in overnight front country camping. With the expertise of State Park Rangers and others, you will be guided in the proper way to choose a campsite, pitch your tent, build your campfire, and relax on an adventure.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

We will also give insight and teach about Leave No Trace principles, which are a set of outdoor ethics to guide you to enjoy the outdoors responsibly, creating the least possible impact for the sake of wildlife and your enjoyment.

We understand learning to camp—especially when camping alone—can become a daunting thought. That is why Tennessee State Parks with Mountain High Outfitters hosts Intro to Camping events, so that you, your friends, and family may enjoy the outdoors, and experience an adventure under the guidance of Rangers and experienced outdoor enthusiasts.

This trip is designed for families and beginner campers, but everyone is welcome to join. Included in the registration fee is everything you need to enjoy the evening including dinner on Saturday, breakfast and lunch on Sunday, snacks throughout, campsite reservation and gear rental.

If you are in need of gear (tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, etc.) please email christina.mcnulty@tn.gov for a list of options. Camping gear is available to participants on a first come, first served basis and you are welcome to bring your own gear.

The registration deadline is 08/22/2018 and refunds will be provided for cancellations up to 08/24/2018.

We thank you for choosing Tennessee State Parks as your camping destination and look forward to getting to introduce you to the outdoors through this event.
