Gone to Texas at The Hermitage

From the 1820s to 1830s, thousands of Southerners immigrated to the Mexican territory of Texas. Tennesseans, in particular, would play a significant role in winning Texan Independence, including Jackson’s close friend, Sam Houston. Learn about the experiences of these men from The Volunteer State who ventured west to fight for Texas independence.
